Nintendo Switch eShop sales beat new releases this week

Highlights among the games on sale include Snake Pass ($9.99, down from $19.99), a platformer whose recent update brought a new mode and a much nicer home menu icon; Thumper, the intense rhythm game that continues to entrance us ($11.99, down from $19.99); Kamiko, a short action game that features some beautiful pixel art ($2.99, down from $4.99); and The Jackbox Party Pack 2, the best of the series and an essential multiplayer game ($16.24, down from $24.99).

Many of these sale prices are only good through 12 p.m. ET today, although some extend through next week. Check out the Nintendo eShop sales page for the whole list.

There’s no reason why it shouldn’t considering how popular both are, Fortnite and the Nintendo Switch, as well as the game running on Unreal Engine 4 which is fully supported by the hybrid console. Today a new rumor about Fortnite Switch hit the Web via a group of leakers posting on the Twitter account @LeakyPandy . They’ve managed to correctly leak several tidbits of information ahead of March’s Nintendo Direct presentation, thus earning some credibility.

Mario Tennis Aces impressions: unrelenting pressure in multiplayer

Mario Tennis Aces is a game of pressure. Relentless pressure, if you’re going to play against live competition. I figured this out about six matches into the demo tournament Nintendo staged this weekend — and I got throttled in all of them. I had a brutal introduction to the game’s multiplayer, sometimes perturbed by lag, and frequently determined by who built up their energy meter the fastest to unleash near-unstoppable attacks. The game, launching June 22 on Nintendo Switch, does give players some defensive tools, such as a “trick shot” that is more about getting a player to the ball in a hurry, and the ability to slow time. But against a human player, once placed on the defensive, it is hard as hell to retake control — and in Mario Tennis Aces, even a modestly skilled receiver can take it away from the server on the first return. Pokémon Switch rumors leave fans guessing about the next game

A LOGO The biggest clue, according to fans, Twitter and forum users, comes from 4chan. A thread on the image board’s Pokémon section suggests that Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu Edition and Pokémon Let’s Go! Eevee Edition are two Switch games coming this fall, the first pair from the Pokémon franchise to hit the console. Attached is art of a potential logo for these titles, which users see as lending further credence to the alleged leak.
